Edison Herbert is a commanding presence on the UK jazz landscape—an artist whose playing balances warmth, finesse, and fearless creativity. Drawing from straight-ahead jazz, gospel, soul, and Caribbean influences, he brings a melodic clarity and rhythmic energy that make his sound instantly recognisable. Shaped by the legacy of Wes Montgomery, Grant Green, and his longtime mentor George Benson, Edison has carved out a voice that stands firmly in the present while honouring the tradition.

A seasoned bandleader, Edison fronts the Edison Herbert Quartet and Trio, collaborating with top-tier musicians. His performances—whether in intimate clubs, festival stages, or sold-out rooms—are known for their communication, swing, groove and accessibility. His music draws in dedicated jazz followers and newcomers alike, reflecting his commitment to reaching a broad audience.

Edison has released four well-received albums: More Beautiful Each Day, My Favourite Tunes, Time for Love and his latest project, All I Need. His work has been praised by major jazz outlets; All I Need received strong acclaim from The Jazzmann and Making A Scene. Time for Love earned high praise internationally, including an excellent review from Paris-Moves.

His work has consistently been recognised for his storytelling ability and warm tone that makes standards feel emotionally grounded and new.

Edison’s projects have also ventured into immersive audio, placing him among the few jazz artists embracing cutting-edge studio production. His writing ranges from boppish originals to reggae-tinged grooves and tender ballads.

Beyond recordings, Edison has contributed significantly to theatre, serving as Musical Director for Unforgettable by Clarke Peters and Larrington Walker, and performing in the acclaimed West End production Get Up, Stand Up!

He continues to perform widely, record, write new material, and expand into educational content through YouTube, guitar courses, and online learning.
